Weight Loss Surgery: Benefit or Not?

Over the years I have ready many articles about weight loss surgeries. I have even trained a number of individuals who had the varied surgeries.

Benefit:                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Weight loss, reduction of medications, it may even save some lives.

Questions:                                                                                                                                                                                                                              What has that person actually learned from the surgery?                                                                                                                              Is this just another way to lose  weight quickly?

There are numbers of people who have had either lapband surgery or gastric bypass surgery and over the years have gained their weight back. WHY? I do know at some facilities before doing these procedures there are psychological testing that occurs before the operation to make sure that this individual is ready for this drastic measure. I do know and have had clients that went through this testing and yet still did not get to the crux of their eating habits. Yes they did take weight off and were very happy with their results. The down side is they never did get to the bottom of their eating habits and started to place weight back on. I had one client who stopped seeing me and when I had seen them months later after surgery had placed their weight back on and then some.

If you are considering surgery as a way to take the weight off and not get to the bottom of your eating habits, well only time will tell. These surgeries are expensive. Why not get to the bottom of your eating problems and understand why you are overeating. It is only then that you will be able to take the weight off and keep it off. It will be a daily challenge for the rest of your life but it doesn’t have to be a difficult challenge. Take life one day at a time and learn to work with yourself instead of fighting yourself.
