Beauty queen promotes pet adoption through tasty treats.
Atlantic Beach, FL – December 17, 2010 –
Lady Sasha Jellybean was bred and trained to be a champion sled dog. A Siberian Husky from a long line of champions in Tok, Alaska, Sasha was well on her way to fulfilling her legacy when she was struck with a rare eye disorder, causing her to lose her sight. The other sled dogs quickly lost interest in Sasha when she no longer could go out and mush with them, leaving Sasha alone at home, sad and without purpose. Sasha was an observant girl and noted that when her brothers, sisters and cousins came home from a hard day of mushing they would be famished and would only have dry and tasteless store-bought treats to munch on. So one day while the pack was out, Sasha used her keen sense of smell and amazing dexterity pulled together wonderful ingredients and created the first of her “original barked goods.”
Aunt Sasha’s Barked Goods, an all-natural dog treat company, was started by Michelle D’Ettorre, Mrs. Alexandria United States 2009, whose mission is to save the world – one pet adoption at a time!
Sasha’s two legged counterpart and the CEO of Aunt Sasha’s Barked Goods won the Community Service Award at the Mrs. Virginia United States 2009 Competition for her work in the animal community. Barked Goods Jax, Aunt Sasha’s sister company, is now taking Jacksonville area homes by storm with their all-natural handmade dog treats. Pumpkin Pretzels, Sweet Potato Biscotti and Butternut Squash Curry Bones are just some of the treats filling up the hearts and stomachs of Jacksonville’s four-legged friends. Barked Goods Jax made its debut in October with the first of many charity dog washes. Their treats can be found online at http://www.barkedgoodsjax.com and are currently available at Momentum Fitness & Performance Training in Ponte Vedra Beach. For the fashionable furballs of Jacksonville, the company also offers canine catering. Don’t worry cat lovers, Barked Goods Jax has something for you too. The newest treat to make an appearance on the website is Kitty Bunches of Oats, the first of many all-natural cat treats for the company.
Aunt Sasha’s treats were recently featured in the gift bags at the Ponte Vedra Living Magazine launch party and have a veterinarian’s seal of approval. As Dr. Nia Perkins of Paws, Purrs and Exotics Animal Hospital in Alexandria, VA, stated, “It is refreshing to know I have a healthy treat to offer my patients.”
Although Lady Sasha Jellybean couldn’t join her brothers and sisters on the slopes, she makes sure the team would always take a hearty supply of the treats when they went out on the long competitions through the wilds of Alaska. Several generations of sled dogs enjoyed the now famous treats “barked” by “Aunt Sasha” who now makes them available to all pups.
