What is going to keep you motivated to stay on track with your weight loss or maintenance program?  Each person is different with their motivation. Over the past several months I have spoken to many people to find out what keeps them going to the gym? What keeps them from a second helping? What keeps them going?

The best answers given were goal oriented. You have to have a goal in mind. Where do you see yourself in 3 months from now or 6 months or a year? The personal trainers I spoke with also have a goal in mind.  I was told “Just because we are personal trainers doesn’t mean that we don’t need motivation. We all need it. We all slide every so often, but we do get back on track.”

Take the average person who wants to lose weight. Everyone I spoke to wants their weight off yesterday. Some understand that you have to work at it daily and the weight doesn’t melt off. I have heard from many that they watched what they ate for one week. They did their exercises faithfully but only took off ½ pound.  Where is the motivation now going to come from after they worked so hard for one week and only took off the ½ pound.  What usually happens to them is they regain that ½ pound and then some the following week.
